Family FAQ

You Asked:

I got an email from an online auction site confirming that I had purchased a new TV. But I didn't make this purchase. What should I do?

The Online Family Answers:

It sounds like you've been sent a typical "phishing" email. The email probably also gave you a web site to sign into if you had any questions or concerns about the order, right? Do not enter your information into the web site or click any links within the email you received -- it's possible that the scam artist behind the phishing email plans to steal your personal information. Instead, go to the online auction's main web site. Log into your account and check the account history. Chances are, no TV was "ordered" through your account. Next, forward the fraudulent email to the online auction site so they can investigate. Or if a TV was ordered without your authorization, contact the auction site's customer resolution center to report the incident.
