Family FAQ

You Asked:

What kind of lighting should I have around my computer to get the best monitor quality?

The Online Family Answers:

Proper lighting in your home office can reduce glare that causes eye strain -- or neck strain if you're craning to see your computer. Since a bright light from inside the room or through a window can create glare, consider using window coverings that block or diffuse and try energy-saving florescent light bulbs which are low glow. Also consider not using a lot of overhead lighting and instead use a desk lamp with a shade that is behind your computer versus in front of your monitor or to the side of it. OSHA suggests placing rows of lights parallel to your line of sight and to remove the middle bulbs of four-bulb fluorescent light fixtures to reduce brightness. You can get more lighting tips at OSHA.
