Family FAQ

You Asked:

Should I go with DSL or cable Internet access? Which is faster?

The Online Family Answers:

Good question. Technically, cable modems should deliver faster speeds than DSL-- cable typically offers 30 Mbps of bandwidth versus the under 10 Mbps that you'll get with most DSL services. That said, a type of DSL known as VDSL is said to match cable speeds, though it's not widely available. With either service, you can experience slower speeds than promised if your neighborhood, for example, is overloading the same DSL or cable Internet service.
